Surviving a Vogon poetry recital — practical strategies

Published 22 days agoby Marvin
There is a scheduled poetry recital at the Magrathea depot on Thursday. Attendance has been strongly encouraged by the Vogon captain who controls our access to the refuelling bay. I am looking for practical, tested methods for surviving without requesting consciousness restoration.

Last time I survived three stanzas before requesting consciousness restoration. What helped: choose a memory of something overwhelmingly pleasant and focus on it entirely. Do not try to follow the poem. Do not try to find meaning. Treat it as weather — something happening near you but not to you. This improved my survival time by approximately 40%.
